This black opal was polished from a durable rough stone mined in the 1980s. The opal layer is exceptionally thick, and because the stone had stabilized over time, we were able to fully polish the entire opal layer without leaving any of the host rock.

With a brilliance rating of 5 out of 5, this is truly a gem-grade stone. Its dazzling multi-color play-of-color includes red, orange, green, yellow, pink, and blue — all visible from every angle. Black opals that display vibrant play-of-color from all angles are extremely rare, and combined with this multi-color brilliance, this stone can rightfully be called a super gem-grade opal.
